CUR’s Aviation Security Conference 2024

Elevating Aviation Security: Cultivating a Culture of Vigilance.

At the CUR AVSEC 2024 Conference on October 22nd at the Marriott Courtyard, I had the privilege of discussing a topic crucial to both aviation security and effective people management: "The Insider Threat". Traditionally, "insider threats" are viewed as “risks posed by individuals with authorized access who misuse that privilege.” My approach, however, considers this risk from a broader perspective, focusing on people management and the emotional and social well-being of employees.

The presentation came with a unique "twist"—a focus on soft skills, supported by a gentle musical accompaniment. I had the pleasure of collaborating with the exceptionally talented Chelo Florentina, a guitarist, singer, and songwriter from the Netherlands. Together, we ended the session with a theme song,

"Equip us Well; We Want to Fulfill our Mission."

During my talk, I shared five key considerations for addressing "insider threats" through People Management. Each pointer emphasized the importance of cultivating vigilance, trust, and loyalty within the organization. Ultimately, finding the right balance between technical skills and soft skills is essential when managing an organization’s most valuable asset: its people.
